Situated at the corners of Clark Ferguson Drive and Howell Street, this beautifully maintained 60 acres park is only 5 minutes from downtown Kansas City. This aesthetically pleasing park offers a variety of activities like walking, jogging, picnicking, and other recreational activities. Macken Park’s most spectacular feature is a 1 mile paved walking/jogging track lined with numerous beguiling trees. Furthermore, it also features several ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and a nature park with a trail wrapping all around the park.
For the past 38 years, Fridays at Macken Park have been all about good local bands of all varieties from North Kansas City perform from June through September at night at the concert pavilion. Families and groups enjoy a fun and free of cost time, relishing the excellent music. The large pavilion is filled with people sitting at picnic tables or individual chairs, chatting, and relaxing. The audience is an amalgamation of people from all age groups so anyone can come and enjoy their free time.
The highlight of the park has to be the 1-mile rubberized, asphalt walking/jogging track, which is set up with Life Fitness stations for bodyweight fitness training. Moreover, the calisthenics gym includes pull up bars, parallel bars, monkey bars, abs benches, etc. for all the fitness freaks out there. The tennis courts and soccer fields are always bustling with kids and adults playing and practicing their game. Numerous events are also held for tennis and soccer players.
Furthermore, the park is dotted with numerous shelters, ideal for hosting private birthday parties and events. The parking lot is quite spacious and never runs out of parking spaces so you don’t have to worry about your car. Additionally, the park is always patrolled by at least one police cars so you also don’t have to worry about security.
